I Will Fear No Evil

I will fear no evil.

Not because evil isn’t real.
Not because evil isn’t scary.
Not even because I have a good support system around me.

I will fear no evil.

Not because I can dial 911.
Not because I can’t see any danger in my immediate future.
Not even because there’s a good police force in the area.

I will fear no evil,

Evil is still present.
It is still scary.
But you are closer.
You are stronger.

Evil threatens,
but you promise.

Because you are with me.

I have comfort. You are my Shepherd who lovingly guides. (Psalm 23)
I have confidence. Nothing comes to me apart from your sovereign control. (Proverbs 16:33; Daniel 4:35)
I experience compassion. You are my compassionate Father. (2 Corinthians 1)

You don’t have to be afraid of the circumstances around you—whether real or imagined. Not because I can give you the assurance that evil things will never happen to you, but because God promises to be with his children.

And his presence changes everything.
