You busy yourself with your stuff and your kids.
Telling yourself you wouldn’t know what to say,
Assuring your mind that someone else will say hey.
Maybe you’re afraid.
They’re upset because of your choices
In your head are their negative voices
Can’t please them, wanna leave them,
Yet He’s called you to love them.
Maybe you’re afraid.
Can’t let anyone in,
You’ve done that before.
All you’ve got to show is a heart scarred and broken,
Their hurtful words that were spoken
and you can’t purge them out of the depths of your soul.
Maybe you’re afraid.
He’s calling you to do something new,
Maybe it’s something you’ve never wanted to do.
Perhaps it’s a secret dream come true.
You’ll have to risk it all,
And you think you might fall.
Maybe you’re afraid.
Child, lean in and listen close
There’s something I want to tell you about fear.
You’re afraid and I hear you.
Have you forgotten that I’m near you
with you,
in you,
Never gonna leave you?
Have you forgotten who made you,
gave you
the very breath you breathe,
your thoughts,
desires,
And the life you live?
Have you forgotten the one who loves you as his daughter,
seeks and finds you like a Father,
holds you in his hand,
forgives as only he can?
You can love them,
You can risk it all,
You can let go,
knowing I’ve got you if you fall.
You can hide your fears in me.
Come to me and find peace.
I’m never gonna leave,
I’m always gonna love.
God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
2 Timothy 1:7
He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
So we can confidently say,
“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear;
what can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:5-6
The Lord is my light and my salvation;
whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1-3
