Sometimes a person comes to my mind and I wonder how they’re doing.
I may forget the wondering as another thought replaces it.
Or I may follow up on it.
The times I follow up on it are my favorite. That’s when I pray for the person. Perhaps I pray a specific verse for them from a passage I recently read. Then I text them to let them know I prayed for them. If I don’t have their cell number, I might send them a message via social media. Or I’ll go all archaic and send an e-mail.
I’ve come to accept these “random wonderings” as not random at all, but as proddings from the Holy Spirit. He knows what’s going on in that person’s life; I don’t. But by the simple act of praying for them and sending a short note (by whatever method), I can partner with him to encourage their hearts in the Lord.
The next time someone randomly comes to your mind and you wonder how they’re doing, trust the Holy Spirit’s leading. Bring that person to the Lord in prayer. Perhaps you could pray a verse for them (Recently, I’ve loved praying this verse for myself and others.) And then let them know. It could be that they are in a place of extreme discouragement and your small note is exactly what they need. Exactly what God planned.
Trust the Holy Spirit, even in the random moments of your day.
